Concord & 9th – Wonderful Florals

Welcome back as I guest-design for Concord & 9th’s February release!  This is week 3 and we’re featuring their beautiful stamp set and coordinating dies called Wonderful Florals!

C&9 Banner

Wonderful Florals Bundle

I’ve stamped this image for 3 of my cards and used the loose images for my 4th card.  The first three cards are all very unique so let’s dive right in!

Blog Wonderful Florals - Copics

My first two cards are stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  I added some accents using my white gel pen and tried to add some depth using different shades of green for the folliage and flowers.  You can’t see it in the image above but each of the letters filled with glossy accents – giving the card some added interest and texture.

Copic colors used:  R30, R22, R14, Y02, YR12, BV000, BV11, V15, R39, R17, YG61, G82, G05, G16, YG07, G03.

Blog Hello Friend Spray

This floral spray was made using 3 of each of the loose flowers, leaves, and berries from the stamp set.  I arranged them all in a single layer and adhered them using my ATG adhesive.  The sentiment was stamped and embossed in white on black cardstock and adhered to the card layer with a single staple.  I also added some gold thread and sequins to finish of this card.

Blog Wonderful Floral - Distress Watercolor over Black

On my third card, I stamped the image using Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed the image with clear powder for watercoloring.  I watercolored this image using distress inks (Aged Mahogany, Candied Apple, Wilted Violet, Lucky Clover, Mowed Lawn, and Pine Needles).  I then die-cut the image and layered it on black cardstock.  To finish off the card, I added Wink of Stella – Clear to the letters.  Sorry you can’t see that too well in this image either!

Blog Wonderful Florals - Pearlescent

My last and final card today was watercolored using a Zig Pearlescent palette.  You can’t see the colors head-on as I show in my group photo, but at an angle like in the photo above all the colors are very vibrant.  This time, I used the “wonderful” die and cut out the words from black cardstock.  I put the stamp over the die-cut black cardstock and stamped the image over it using VersaMark Ink and embossed the image in white.  Pearlescent watercolors look beautiful over black paper and I hope that you’ll give it a try!

Blog Wonderful Florals Projects

I’m so sad next week is my last week to guest-design for Concord & 9th!  This set was so fun for me to play with – I LOVE flowers!  Hurry to their store and shop this release!  Remember, when you spend $60 between now and 3/8/2018, you can earn the following Hooray die for free!

Hooray Die

Have a wonderful week and I’ll see you back here next week!

MFT 2018 Creative Olympics

Hi Friends!

I decided last minute to join in the fun with the MFT 2018 Creative Olympics.  There are four events/challenges and phew…let me tell you…I’ve spent the last 2 hours organizing/editing photos and I think my heart is still racing from the last challenge.  I’m not kidding.  I need a beta-blocker for my heart.  I’m going to dive right in and share each of these events with you!  Winners are selected randomly so wish me luck!

Event #1:  Stamping Slalom – creating 1 card using at least 3 stamp sets.

For my first card, I used a new stamp set I’ve been wanting to play with – Meant to Bee.  I love bees (images of bees to be more clear) and wanted to create a scene using them along with the elephant from Adorable Elephants and a hippo from Happy Hippos.

Happy Bee DayI inked up the background for this card using Broken China distress ink and used the Grassy Hills die to cut some layering grass.  I added the images after fussy cutting them (I only had the dies for the Meant to Bee set) and finished off the card with some Wonky stitches and a few white highlights with my Sakura White Gelly Roll pen.

Event #2:  Winter Freestyle

My second card features MFT’s Snowflake Splendor stamps and Layered Snowflakes dies.

Be Joyful - Snowflakes

I stamped the first layer, die cut the second layer using silver sparkle paper, used vellum for my 3rd layer of flakes and adorned the center with silver sequins.  The sentiment is from the Happy Pawlidays set.  There was lots of white space on this card, so I used some Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to finish off this card.

Event 3:  Crafty Biathlon

MFT gave us the option of combining two techniques on one card for this challenge.  I decided to use emboss-resist with a shaker element.

Snowflake Splendor Shaker

I stamped snowflakes on a piece of white cardstock and used Distress Oxides (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick) to color the entire panel, revealing those pretty white snowflakes.  I added some watermarks and die cut 3  snowflakes to create the shaker portion.  I used my MISTI to help me stamp the 3 coordinating stamps and embossed them in silver sparkle embossing powder through the die cuts.  The sequins I used are gifted ones I found in my stash – they were snowflakes and served it’s purpose for this card.  Finally, I added a scalloped border frame.

Event #4:  Speed Cardmaking

Ok y’all…I waited for this forth event to finish this post….couldn’t find it on the MFT Blog but luckily found it on their FB webpage.  Sigh – the start of my anxiety.  The challenge was to create a card from start to finish in 20 mins.  20 mins!!!  That’s really hard to do sometimes!  I just got the Mesmerizing Mandala die this past week and it was sitting there looking at me.  So I decided I would use it for this quick card.

Mesmerizing Mandala

I used Distress Oxide Inks again (same as above but the pink I used for this card is Festive Berries) and inked up a panel, then I die cut it out and sprayed sparkle shimmer liquid over it before adhering it to the card layer.  I die cut the word because in both black and silver glitter paper and off set them when I glued them together.  The sentiment is from the same Because stamp/die set that I embossed in white over black cardstock.  How long did this take me, you ask?  I think I could’ve finished it in 15…but the obsessive need to clean as I created caused me to slow down.

IMG_4029

I’m calling it a success here….are you with me?!  I think my heart is still racing…because after I finished that card, I started editing photos and had to find all the blog posts from MFT to link these cards.  I’m finally done!  Hallelujah…(and the Star Spangled Banner plays in my head).

I hope I RANDOMLY get selected to win! . Wish me luck and until next time!

XOXO,

Concord & 9th – Birthday Stacks

Hello!

I’m back for week 2 of the Concord & 9th Release feature!

C&9 Banner

This week, we’re featuring the Birthday Stacks Bundle – including a fun stamp set and coordinating dies.

Birthday Stacks Products

I made 4 cards using each of the 4 main stamps in this stamp set.  The dies were designed to create interactive, pop-up cards or can be used as edge dies on cards or tags.

Blog Birthday Gifts Acetate Card

My first card features a row of presents.  I colored the images using various Copic markers and embossed the sentiment using a stamp from the Everyday Greetings set featured in the previous post.  The die that coordinates with this stamp set makes this acetate card easy to create – you can easily quadruple the panels to glue on the acetate to hide all the adhesive.

Here’s an acetate card hack:  Get clear cover sheets!  They’re made for binding books, but they’re perfectly clear and come in high-quality full-sized sheets an can be cut down perfectly for cards.  YOU’RE WELCOME! 😉 (it’s linked in the supplies section below).

Copic colors used:  Y02, YR15, Y15, R89, R39, R08, BG11, BG32, BG34

Blog Celebrate Banner

The next card features the banner image from the stamp set.  Instead of using the coordinating banner die, I used the Celebrate die to give the card some off-the-edge interest.  I stamped Versamark ink over the die-cut word and embossed it using gold embossing powder twice.  I left this card pretty clean and simple, but added two balloons towards the bottom right to finish off the card.

Here’s a close-up of the embossed word that I used in the previous card and in my next project:

Blog Celebrate Balloons Close-Up

Blog Celebrate Balloons

For the third card, I used the same die as above, but stamped the row of balloons on the card instead.  The card is side-folding card so I cut the base behind the die cut so they it’s free-floating.  I embossed the die-cut the same way I did the previous card.  I stuck with the same color scheme also to keep the card theme cohesive.

Blog Birthday Candles

Last but not least, I used the row of birthday candles for my last card.  This card was the cleanest and simplest card I made – but I don’t think it needed anymore!   I colored the images using Copic markers and stamped the sentiment in black just below the row of candles and called it done.

Copic colors used:  V01, V12, V15, B000, B21, BG11, BG32, BG34

I’ll be back next Friday to share 4 more cards using the Concord & 9th Wonderful Florals stamp set and dies!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hurry and get these products before they sell out and remember that when you spend $60 between now and 3/8/2018, you can earn the following Hooray die for free!

Year of the Dog – 2018 Lucky Red Envelopes

Hey, Everyone!

My family is celebrating the Lunar New Year this week.  I decided I needed to get movin’ on these lucky red envelopes!  This year is the year of the dog.  Mama Elephant also released a new stamp set to celebrate the New Year for us – the Lion Dance!  I LOVE these lions!

2018 Lucky Red Envelope 2

I decided to make them all a bit different this year with the images.  I stamped a few lions and a bunch of dogs on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored them with copics.

Copic colors used:  E41, E31, Y02, Y23, YG05, G14, R29, R24, R20

2018 Lucky Red Envelope 1

I also added the dogs on the lions’ backs…haha!

2018 Lucky Red Envelope 3

I embossed the envelopes with stamps from the Lunar Extras stamp set in gold before adhering the images.  That’s it!  Super simple!

2018 Lucky Red Envelope

This holiday is big deal for many in our culture – so I want to wish everyone a prosperous new year and an abundance of joy!  Thanks for joining me today – I’ll be back on Friday to feature Concord & 9th’s Birthday Stacks Bundle!  See you then!

Concord & 9th – Everyday Bundle

Hi Everyone!!!

I’m so excited to announce that I am guest-designing for the Concord & 9th February Release!!!  They have 4 bundles and I will be showcasing one bundle every Friday for the next four weeks.

C&9 Banner

This week features the Everyday Bundle which includes the following products:

I’ve created 4 cards using each of the Tintables Designs and incorporated the Everyday Circle Dies and the Everyday Greetings stamp set.  The Tintables Designs come in 4 pre-printed designs in a pack of 16 (4 of each design) and allows you to watercolor or create ink-resist techniques without heat embossing fuss!  So much fun!  These card fronts are sized so that you can tape them down to minimize warping and cut them down after and still have plenty of room to trim after and still have a full A2 size panel or smaller.

Blog Hello Gorgeous

For my first card, I simply watercolored this background using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and added a bit of Wilted Violet in one column of arrows.  I then used the outline of the circle in white from the Everyday Circle Dies and layered three of them randomly on top for added interest.  For the sentiment, I used the word Hello from the same die set cut out in black and stamped the word “gorgeous” from the Dahlia Turnabout set from a previous release on vellum.  Yes, y’all…I painstakingly cut small strips of foam adhesive to adhere this vellum sentiment onto the card – they’re all hidden behind the letters.  I love how this card turned out!

Blog Ink Blending on Tintables

For my second card, I blended distress ink over dotted panel (its not only for watercolor – yay!).  I used Abandoned Coral, Scattered Straw, and Cracked Pistachio to blend the entire panel from top to bottom.

Blog Hello Friend

I used the Everyday Circle Dies to cut out the word hello – which I used in the card above and used the negative space for this card.  I embossed the word friend from a stamp in the Everyday Greetings stamp set and adhered this circle onto the card using some foam tape.  Super simple!

Blog You're the Best Ever

On my third card, I thought I would color little rainbows.  I quickly realized it would take way too long and I was making mistakes after coloring a few sections.  I started with Candied Apple Distress ink and when I realized my initial vision wasn’t going to work – I took my brush and loaded it up with water and washed the entire panel with a watered-down Candied Apple color.  For added interest, I also added some Wilted Violet to a few sections.  I then embossed the sentiment You’re The Best Ever from the Everyday Greetings set in gold over a white circle cut out using the Everyday Circles Die.  Again, I propped this up using some foam tape.  Another quick and easy card!

Blog Just a Note

For my last and final feature this week,  I used the remaining Tintable and added flowers from the new Wonderful Forals set (which will be featured in 2 weeks – so stay tuned!!!).  I embossed some flowers and watercolored them using Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed, Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass, Lucky Clover and Forest Moss.  Seems like a lot of colors but I only used a bit of each.  To bring the colors forward, I added some black highlights on the words to the right of each letter.

Blog Everyday Projects

I hope you enjoyed these cards featuring the Concord & 9th Everyday Bundle!  Keep in mind that when you spend $60 between now and 3/8/2018, you can earn the following Hooray die for free! *Not a paid advertisement – they are just that cool!*

Hooray Die

I hope you’ll join me again next week to see more projects for Concord & 9th!  Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Coloring Challenge Week 1

Hi, Everyone!

I did pretty good for the first week of the Kathy Racoosin coloring challenge and then I got busy with other projects and I’ve been slacking.  I thought I should at lease share what I have here.  These are also posted on my Instagram account if you’re not already following.

The first card is the Mermaid’s Tail from Ellen Hutson.  I stamped the tail in black and inked up the background using distress oxide inks.  Then I added a bit of color using pink distress ink and marker.  I added shimmer to the scales with a Sakura Stardust Clear pen.  I cut out some waves using various blue colors and vellum and stacked them all at the bottom of the card base.

Mermaid's Tail 2

The sentiment is embossed with clear powder – looks pretty simple!

Mermaid's Tail 1

For my next card, I did copic coloring with various stamps from Mama Elephant’s  Incoming Mail stamp set.  I hand-cut all the pieces and colored a piece of cardstock to make a sidewalk.

Sending Love and Hugs 2

The images hid the sidewalk edge really well because I made this one A4 size.  The stripe background was made using the diagonal stripe background stamp from My Favorite Things over red paper.

Sending Love and Hugs 1

Sending Love and Hugs

For my third card, I decided to do some watercoloring using W Plus 9’s Kind Soul stamp set.  This stamp is gorgeous!  I’ve been wanting to use it for a long time.  There just isn’t enough time to play with everything I make do and do what I want to do!

Kind Soul 2

I stamped and embossed the image in gold this time.  I LOVE to emboss before I do watercoloring – it really helps me stay in the lines.  I used my Daniel Smith watercolors – something I haven’t touched in a very long time!  When done, I stamped my sentiment with black in and added some interest with a stitched border using MFT’s Wonky Stitch die.

Kind Soul

I told you I got busy with other projects.  I’ve been preparing for a retreat at the end of the month.  We’re supposed to do a shoebox swap so I have been punching and cutting materials for people to make 15 cards (of the same design) – what was I thinking using the Stampin Up Owl Punch??? SOOO many pieces!

I also did a sewing project.  My boys destroyed this Mickey Mouse chair and it’s sooo hard to clean.  It’s an eye-soar in my craft room because my daughter likes to sit in it.  So I got some canvas material and attempted to make a chair cover.  It’s not perfect but it will serve it’s purpose until she grows out of it in a few months – or years.

IMG_3735

Lots of draping and pinning, but it’s much better looking than the filthy Mickey Mouse fabric it was before.

Thanks for stopping by – I hope you’ll enjoy your weekend!

Conversation Hearts in a Jar

Hello again!

There’s another 30 day coloring challenge going on and I’m forcing myself to make some time for it.  I probably wont be able to commit to making something everyday, but I will share what I have as frequently as possible!

To keep the Valentine’s theme going, I’ve made another card.  This time, using conversation hearts! I LOVE the How You Bean? stamp set by Lawn Fawn and all the Add-Ons that are available.  It really stretches your stamps!

Conversation Hearts in a Jar 2

I stamped and colored the jars with copics.  Nothing too fancy!  I put some linen thread around the neck of the jar and embossed the sentiment.

Conversation Hearts in a Jar 1

I would’ve loved to put glossy accents over the entire jar – but that would take a long time and I was afraid of the panel warping.  So this one is short and simple.  Hope you enjoyed it!

Conversation Hearts in a Jar

Have a great day!
