Baby Party Animals

This is the second birthday card that I made for m husband’s niece, Adrienne. I’m using a set by Simon Says Stamp called Baby Party Animals. These animals are soo cute!

This card is simple as far as stamping goes, but takes a little bit of effort to color since there’s not much space there. Don’t be fooled – it takes careful coloring to not mess it up.

Happy Pandas

Who likes PANDAS? I just love cute stamps of animals. I’m falling in love with them all. My husband’s niece and nephew’s birthdays are next week so I’m working on cards for their birthdays. This first card is from a My Favorite Things stamp set called Happy Pandas. It is too cute!

I finished these cards and was so excited, I sent photos to my nephews (they are older) and my sisters. My nephew asked me to make another for him so I made a similar card, adding a few things and made a few changes as I went since I had already done it once (I didn’t use the MISTI this time).

I usually don’t stamp anything on the inside – leaves more room for writing, but my nephew requested “happy birthday” be stamped inside too – so I spiced it up a little:

You’ll have to watch the video to see how I did it the first time:

You’ve Got This – I’m Here For You

Hi Everyone!

I honestly consider this a second full time job. I am always updating and organizing things. For the past two nights, I’ve been updating my inventory and recoding a lot of my supplies to include more than one place where items can be found/purchased. It’s a lot of work! Thumbs up and props to all you geeky friends out there!

I wasn’t planning on making a card today and thought I would take a break. But I couldn’t help myself. I thought I would make a card using one of my new Stampin’ Up sets to share.

You've Got This

This set is called You’ve Got This and I. SIMPLY. LOVE. IT.

You've Got This 2

And that Wink of Stella Clear Shimmer pen….WOWZA. I think I’ll be using this on EVERY card from now on.

You've Got This 1

This card was so simple to make! See how I made it in my video:

Birthday Celebration

Hi there! I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day with their loved ones.

We went out and had a late breakfast and stopped at Lowe’s to get some Hydrangea bushes – so my husband spent this evening getting sweaty :). He’s a big sweetie and I’m sure he didn’t mind!

I made a card after getting back from our outing using some new Simon Says Stamp products. I’ve never colored animals or critters before – so this is new for me. I even went as far as using some Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color these with – way outside my comfort zone – but I think it turned out great. Elephants are just so stinkin’ cute!

Birthday Celebration

I love the stitched dies by Simon Says Stamp. I have been waiting a long time for them to get back into stock so when I got notification last week that they were available again – I quickly ordered them and am very glad I had them to use for this card. I think new products really do foster creativity!

I’ve been cleaning my craftroom and selling a lot of dies that I have not used and retired Stampin’ Up stamp sets too. It feels good! I have never considered myself to be a purger and I remember saying that I would never get rid of anything. But as I go, I’m learning that some products (adhesives, etc.) are better than others so eventually, I’ll use up all the stuff I don’t care for so much and can get the stuff I do want. On a weird note – I had a dream that I found Jennifer McGuire and got to pick her brain about card-making.

Birthday Celebration 1

Anyway…isn’t this elephant cute? This card is very simple and didn’t take me long to make – and was everything I envisioned.

Here’s my video:

June 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Happy Thoughts

My June Paper Pumpkin Kit is here – and yours should be here very soon if you’re expecting a delivery. So much fun in a little orange box!

I love this month’s kit because there are two different styles of cards – I really love the more gender-neutral card. I did them all last night and it was really fun for me – with a minor hiccup.

June 2015 Paper Pumpkin - Happy Thoughts

June 2015 Paper Pumpkin - Happy Thoughts 2

See the green flag on the bottom right of the second card? On the instructions, it’s a solid green piece. So I looked ALL OVER for it, worked over it and in the end, I gave up and used the honeycomb green piece. I was a little irked that it was misleading. But I’m glad everything in the package was provided to complete all 4 cards. PHEW!

I need to get some wood paper – because that is some fun stuff! I had an extra sheet of these wood banners and am looking forward to using them on other projects :).

I LOVED that these came with envelope liners – I’ve never played with them before. One thing I think that would be super helpful is if these liners were scored – so you can line it up with the fold on the envelop (since this was my first time, I just did whatever I thought was right).

Distress Watercolor Over Embossed Canvas

Hi Everyone!

I made a birthday card for my nephew – and I seem to have trouble making cards that are more masculine. I lean towards using light colors – which typically make my cards look more feminine. I’ve used a lot of different advice from people in this video on how to make cards more masculine (Carissa Wiley), how to store embossing powder (Jennifer McGuire), and how to use a laminated white piece of cardstock to help you see the color you’re picking up with a brush when you do watercolor with distress ink (Kristina Werner) – these ladies are all brilliant! You’ll have to see my video to see what I’m talking about – or you can check out their videos on YouTube :).

Distress Watercolor Canvas 2

I like that the embossed canvas gives this card a lot of texture. I haven’t used distress inks in a while so I thought I would use them as well for this card.

Distress Watercolor Canvas

Here’s my video – I hope you like it. Sorry if I sound tired (it’s pretty late here and I’ve had a rough couple of days with my youngest having a fever that won’t seem to let up).
