So Jelly – Low Bulk Shaker Card

My oldest son is turning 9 next week so I wracked my brain thinking about what I would make for him. I only thought of this Lawn Fawn So Jelly Set because Noah is the brightest little boy I know. He has always excelled in everything at school and he makes my husband and I very proud.  He’s our little superstar when it comes to academia.

Noah’s also a goofball and makes tons of faces in pictures, so it was really hard for me to find a good one of him. This is a picture of him and my second oldest, Evan.  They’ll never admit it – but they’re the best of friends:

I wanted to make a shaker card and have been thinking about using m sewing machine on a card for a while, so this was the perfect card. I used some watercolor paper to make distress ink background and glued my images (colored with Copic markers) to it, then I created a shaker front using a stamp pocket (Simon Says Stamp or MFT – the two the I use).

So Jelly 3

I stamped the sentiments directly on the clear piece using staz-on ink – which can be sticky and quite tricky. I didn’t show myself stamping twice for each sentiment – but I was crazy enough to try to line them up and ink again to get better inking. I definitely should have used my MISTI or a stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure perfect line up…but I’m glad it turned out OK.

So Jelly 1

I sewed the shaker frame on, leaving an opening at the top to add sequins, then sewed the top to close.  It was a very quick card despite spilling all my clear sequins and running out of thread while I was sewing – don’t do that when you’re making a card like this!

So Jelly 2

I hope you like this card! Here’s my video if you want to watch the process:

  1. Oh, Caly, what adorable sons you have!! They are sweet and handsome! And what a great card. I love it. And we all have our learning experiences, don’t we? But it ended up perfectly! Hugs!
