I finally made a card. I’ve been making tons of excuses lately but mostly, it’s because I don’t want to make the time and because I feel discouraged and am selling myself short. People can be really mean on YouTube (and everywhere else).
I’ve been buying a lot of cute stuff and I only got the motivation to make this card because it’s a neighbor’s birthday – Happy Birthday, Davia!
This My Favorite Things stamp set is adorable (appropriately called Adorable Elephants), but I wanted to make it a shaker card, so the heart die is from Lawn Fawn. Today is MFT’s January release – they have a new heart STAX die set now!
The background is created using distress ink. I colored the elephant using copics and the butterflies using Stampin’ Write markers. It was a very simple card.
The shaker portion is non bulk and does not use any foam so the sequins don’t float around too freely – which is ok because I like for the areas hold the sequins in place.
I made a video but I have to warn you that the lighting is terrible! My sweet husband got me some new lamps and the bulbs need to be replaced. He even installed a can light overhead and we’re waiting on the bulbs for that. I’m sure that will earn me some negative feedback on YouTube. I hope you like the card!

On SCS? That’s terrible! I’m sorry to hear that! I wish people like that would realize that meaning mean is not productive for them or the recipient. I hope you’ll find encouragement as well that no matter how good we are, there are people who will hate no matter what. Big hugs to you!

Thanks, Caly. I am quite a bit older than you, so I have learned that lesson many times. I just try to focus on the kind people, though it can get a person down. It helps to share, like you did. Positive feedback really helps. Big hugs, to you, too!

Oh, Caly, this is one adorable shaker card, and I just love the wonderful sky background and the heart with the sequins inside! This is going to make one special child very happy with the elephant and flowers! And I love the grass at the bottom. Sweetness! Hugs!

Very cute card, Caly. When I first saw the card, it looked like the elephant was blowing a heart-shaped bubble. The sequins add to the effect, since bubbles are shiny and iridescent.
I’ve read some comments on other videos and was surprised at how rude they were. I figured some immature teenagers got a hold of them and thought they were being cute. People can be so needlessly cruel. Like my parents always said, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.
Keep up the good work and don’t get discouraged. I admire you for all your efforts, knowing that I can’t hold a candle to you. I touch anything electronic and the gremlins frolic!
