I wanted to share a little bit of what I’ve been up to since coming home from the Stamping Away retreat. I’ve been staying busy – though it feels like I haven’t been doing much. I’m somewhat grateful that I have lots of cards that I made that I can share on Instagram…but I also want to share them here and writing a blog post takes more time, so I’m sorry if you’re seeing things you’ve already seen on Instagram that I posted this past week.
I’ve shared two cards that I made using product from Lil’ Inker Designs – they’re NEW products and are available on the Lil’ Inker Designs website. I’m a little bashful to say that I only own several of their cover up dies – so when I had the opportunity to use more of their products at the retreat – I was so excited and impressed by how cute the products were!
This is a die set! All of it (except the sentiment). They have a stamp set that coordinates also but I only used the dies. I sponged some ink on the paper to give it more dimension – but isn’t it great??? I think it’s a must have!
Anyone else love bunnies? How about bunnies with glasses? Oh my goodness…*giggle*…look at those glasses. They have die cuts for those glasses…but I stamped them and put glossy accents over them to give them a bit more interest – they are oodles of cuteness! Here’s a close-up:
Remember the beautiful card I shared in my last post using alcohol inks? A friend asked me to replicate the card for her, but I don’t own the same Birchpress Design die, so I improvised using a Lil’ Inker Design Cover-Up plate. Let’s see a side by side:
Hindsight – I could’ve cut out more hearts, but I think it looks pretty good! Glad I had things on hand that could work for this card! I love playing with all the alcohol inks. Here’s a photo of the alcohol ink panel before the card was constructed:
It’s kind of sad to cover up all that beauty! I swatched my alcohol inks over the weekend just before creating this card. I cut down yupo paper to 2×2 for my coin book of swatches. I did 2 drops of Alcohol Blending Solution and 1 drop of each ink color and blew it around using a hand air pump. A little bit goes a long way! I don’t have all the colors, but I think I have a pretty decent collection. Here’s a photo of my alcohol ink swatches:
I’ve done a lot of organization and ink swatching lately….so let’s talk about my ink dilemma, shall we? It’s not really a dilemma…and they’re more wants than needs. Be prepared – because it’s a lot to take in…
Currently, I have full-size Stampin’ Up inks – because I started this stamping world with their products and have added Lawn Fawn Ink minis, some Momento dew drop inks, and some MFT ink minis. Here they are all laid out:
I have all the Lawn Fawn minis – but there are only 40 colors right now. I wanted to add more and talked myself out of buying ALL the MFT colors…because there are a lot of bright and bold colors that I don’t need, so being practical, I limited myself to just pastels. The only time I use colored inks is when I do stamp layering. I make a lot of my cards using outlined images and color with Copics or watercolor – that right there, what I just said should be reason enough NOT to want more right? but…but…it’s all sooooo pretty!
So while at Stamping Away….I swatched all 84 Altenew colors and 38 Catherine Pooler colors. Want to see what that madness looks like?
They are beautiful…but do I need to spend over $800 in new inks? NO! No, I don’t!!!! I’m sad those swatches won’t go to use…but I’m sooo grateful doing those snapped me back to reality about wanting more ink! I’m 70% certain I don’t want those and 100% sure I don’t need more ink. I wish I could use emojis…you could see my confusion and self destruction better. I take solace in knowing I’m not the only crafter who does this… END RANT.
Alright…sorry about that. I just had to get that out there! Phew! I hope you enjoyed the cards I shared and check out Lil’ Inker Designs if you’re not familiar! I’m so glad I got to share these projects with you today!
