Future Mrs. Banner

Two weeks ago, I wrote about making my friend Jessica’s bridal shower invites. Last week, one of the other bridesmaids asked me to make a banner to coordinate with those invites. I started with the same colors and incorporated as much as i could from the previous project. The only thing I did not add was the background lace image – I ran out of ink making the shower invites and have not ordered reinkers yet.

This entire project uses the Banners Framelits Die set. I used the largest die and cut out all the pieces for the base in Blushing Bride card stock. Then I printed the lettering on shimmer cardstock with an ombre fade text and cut them all in the next largest die. I used the same accented border punch and highlighted that with sponged Metallic Gold Encore Ink. I also tried to add some gold to the letters on each banner piece using a metallic gold marker, but you can barely see it. Here’s one of the banners up close and personal:

Here are all the pieces together:

I didn’t send and string or mounting materials, but you can really use anything. Personally, I’d use some twine and mini clothespins to hold them in place. I’m only sorry I can’t be there for the shower in Kansas City next week. I would love to be there to help make it a special day for Jessica, but I know it’s going to be fabulous regardless!

Baby Boy Dresser Step Card

Hi Everyone!

I’m back today with another dresser step card. I showed a coworker my dresser card from last night and was asked to make one for a boy. So without going into the details since you can view my last post here, I’ll just show you the pictures and list the colors/stamp details.

Card Base: Soft Suede

Hardwood background stamp in Soft Suede

Baby onsie from Baby Tees Stampin’ Up! wheel stamp (retired)

Baby socks from Something for Baby stamp set

Baby in bassinet and greeting from Bundled Baby stamp set

Stamped images are stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities markers.

You Plus Me

I’ve made a few Valentine’s Day cards this year using the You Plus Me set. It’s got lots of cute stamps in this set. So I thought I’d change up the color scheme and use the designer series paper (DSP) that I purchased to go with it. This paper stack is a set called Stacked with Love. It’s double sided with different designs and very versatile. I usually don’t use a whole lot of designer series paper, but I’m trying hard to incorporate new technique and designs.

The banners are made using my banner punch using one sheet of (DSP) – there are two designs bc I just flipped over the paper (as I mentioned, the paper is double sided with different designs). I used by Banner Framelits Dies to cut out the larger banners for layering and the only stamping I did on this card was the round sentiment that says “You + Me.” I also used a sentiment on the inside of the card that reads “Be Mine” from the same You Plus Me set.

You Plus Me W1

So simple…it feels like cheating.

You Plus Me W2

The string is just some simple pink twine. I also used my Itty Bitty Accents heart punch and punched out two hearts for the large banners – I thought it needed a little more.

You Plus Me W3

The DSP coordinates with Calypso Coral and is also the color I used for the card base and the sentiment on this card. You don’t need punches or banner framelits dies to make this card (what I used to tell myself before I wanted EVERYTHING in the catalog) – but it certainly makes it look uniform and nice!

Tree of Hearts

When my sister-in-law was here, we made cards (you can’t come to Ohio and not make a card with me!). I wanted to use the Sheltering Tree stamp set again and had in mind a tree of hearts, but once I started choosing colors and stamped, I didn’t exactly execute the way I had envisioned – but as with all projects, it’s a learning process!

It’s not romantic or as whimsy as I had hoped and the little hearts turned out looking more like apples. But just because I don’t like it for a Valentine’s Day card for my husband, doesn’t mean it isn’t a cute card that someone else would love receiving :).
